Professor David S Precious CM, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, has been named the 2008 William F Harrigan Award Recipient by the William F. Harrigan Society of New York University-Bellevue Hospital Centre. The award recognizes outstanding contribution to the advancement of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Harrigan was the founding member of the Bellevue Oral Surgery Alumni Association and director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program at Bellevue Hospital, Nassau County Medical Center, New York. The society's focus is to stimulate and advance the science and art of oral and maxillofacial surgery and to elevate standards of the practice.
Past winners of this prestigious award include Dr Roger West, Seattle; Dr Edward Ellis III, Dallas, and Dr Leon Assael, Editor in Chief, Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The award will be presented to Professor Precious at a ceremony to be held in New York City in the autumn of 2008.
