Guests of this year's Annual Dentistry Winter Ball were welcomed by the enchanting melodies that filled the foyer outside Harbourfront Marriott's Nova Scotia Ballroom this past Saturday. The event was impressive from beginning to end and Dean Tom Boran likened it to the "Obama Inaugural Ball" which took place this week in Washington, D.C.! This celebration of "100 Years of Excellence in Dentistry" was hosted by the Dalhousie Dental Class of 2011 and was attended by 300 guests including alumni, faculty, staff, and students from all years of dental hygiene and dentistry. Major dental prizes for graduating students included an LED high speed handpiece courtesy of A-dec and Patterson Dental and a curing light courtesy of Henry Schein Dental. Merimac, along with a few of our own students, provided after dinner entertainment. The dance floor was packed all night - any organizer's dream come true! Although the evening was full of surprises, the highlight for many, evidenced by the room full of lip synchers and air guitarists, was the Rhapsody Quintet's instrumental version of Bohemian Rhapsody which ended with an eruption of applause! Next year's organizers certainly have their work cut out for them!
