Dr. Carl Canning elected Vice-Chair (Academic Administration), Dalhousie Senate


Lloyd Fraser, Chair of Senate, Dalhousie University announced to the Dalhousie University community that two Vice Chairs have been elected by Senate. Dr. Carl Canning, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, has been elected Vice Chair (Academic Administration) for the term September 29, 2009 to June 30, 2011 and Dr. Carolan McLarney,School of Business, Faculty of Management, has been elected Vice Chair (Academic Programs) for the term September 29, 2009 to June 30, 2012.

Dr. Canning is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in the Faculty of Dentistry. Prior to coming to Dalhousie in 1997, he conducted a private dental practice in Antigonish. Dr. Canning is an active member of the Nova Scotia Dental Association and from 1994 to 2008 served as a Dental Adviser with Nova Scotia Department of Health Public Health Services.

Dr. McLarney is a Professor in the School of Business, focusing on International and Strategic Management, having come to Dalhousie in 1999 from Illinois StateUniversity. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Windsor and in 1997 completed her PhD in Strategic Planning and International Business at York University.
