Faculty Appreciation Reception, Halifax, NS

Nov 18, 2009

It was fitting the Olympic Flame just passed outside. Inside the Westin Hotel, our own Dr. Jack Gerrow and Dr. Joe Murphy ascended the champions’ podium at the Faculty of Dentistry’s first Faculty Appreciation event. These “heavyweights” had been selected by their peers for their contribution to and influence on dental education, research, and literature. As agents of change, Drs. Gerrow and Murphy helped shape the fine reputation of the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University.

Dr. Gerrow recently stepped down as Chair of the largest department in the Faculty, the Department of Clinical Sciences. He continues to teach and research in prosthodontics and dental education.

After a 25-year association with Dalhousie University, Dr. Murphy retired in June 2009.  In his most recent role as Assistant Dean, Students, he encouraged students in both professional and personal growth.
