How do you motivate students to become great dentists?  Recognize incentives to learn, build on past experiences, make the learning relevant, vary the teaching methods, and add a pinch of fun!  In other words, run the Annual Dalhousie Dentistry Prosthodontics Olympics with second year dental students competing for ‘world’ records and prizes in five team events.

As Master of Ceremonies and initiator of the Olympics, Dr. Robert Loney presided over the opening ceremonies with the lighting of the Olympic Tooth and the introduction of the seven teams. The assembled students, judges, other faculty members, technicians, and guests then moved to the clinic area for the ‘sporting’ events.

The 2010 Olympics is one part of the proven, successful programs in the Faculty of Dentistry taught by dedicated professionals, such as Dr. Loney.
