Tesia Rolle has talent!

Tesia Rolle has talent!  And, CBC Radio agrees.  Ms. Rolle was featured on Information Morning’s Feb. 1 show, which highlighted the start of 2010 African Heritage Month.

As a Spoken Word Artist and a founding member of the Word Iz Bond Spoken Word Artists Collective, this second year dentistry student’s original work usually centers around her own experiences and issues affecting others in the black community.  She became interested in poetry writing through her good friend and fellow poet, Shauntay Grant.

Given she is caught up in her studies both day and evening, Tesia sometimes practices her writing by composing pieces about what she is learning at the time.  Radio listeners recently enjoyed a light-hearted sampling of her work about dental floss, entitled Forget Me Not.

Word Iz Bond hosts a regular spoken word series at the Company House, 2202 Gottingen St. in Halifax. Ms. Rolle will be featured on Feb 18 at 8 pm.  Tickets are $5 at the door.
