In addition, members of the Classes of 1950 and 1955 received their respective 60th and 55th Anniversary pins from the Dean, Dr. Thomas Boran, and Dalhousie Dentistry Students Society President Karim Al-Khatib. In response, Dr. David Peters (DDS50) recalled the years gone by in a lively toast to his peers. The evenings entertainment was provided by a pair of talented third-year Dentistry students: Diana Wong, who performed a delightful Chopin piece on the piano, and Tesia Rolle, who wowed the crowd with a powerful spoken word performance. In his closing remarks, Dr. Boran acknowledged a few alumni and friends who have recently contributed major leadership gifts of $25,000 or more to the Faculty Dr. Dean Miller (DDS90), Dr. Jenine Arab-OMalley (DDS90), Dr. Walter Cook (DDS50), Dr. David Peters (DDS50) and Dr. Doug (DDS83) & Mrs. Katherine Musseau. Dr. Boran also took a moment to recognize an extraordinarily generous endowment from Dr. David (DDS69) and Mrs. Elizabeth Precious. Dr. Precious will be receiving a Doctorat Honoris Causa from Laval University for leadership in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences and Cleft Lip and Palate research and treatment. This highest distinction granted by the university will be conferred in June 2011 in Quebec City, Quebec.
