Pumpkin Carving Contest part of Homecoming 2010

Halloween Spirit ran high at the Faculty of Dentistry on Friday, October 22 at the inaugural Pumpkin Carving Contest, part of Dalhousie Universitys Homecoming 2010 festivities.

366 Dentistry alumni, students, faculty, staff, patients, friends, and members of the University community gathered to view the 20 creative creations including University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Tom Traves, who stopped by to select the grand prize winner The Boo-delicious Ghoulies team from the Dental Lab.

At the Pre-Molar Mash after-party in the Student Lounge, prizes were awarded to the top Departmental (Applied Oral Sciences), Alumni (Baird Lawen Dentistry) and Student (First-Year Dentistry) pumpkins the latter of which bore an uncanny resemblance to Dentistry Dean Dr. Thomas Boran.

The Faculty of Dentistry would like to thank all participants and spectators, and has heard murmurs that teams are already planning for next years competition!
