Dr. Mary McNally on the Cover of the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association

This month's JCDA cover features Dr. Mary McNally, assistant professor in the department of dental clinical sciences at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Mrs. Mary Cooley, a very active senior who recently completed her second term as Nova Scotia representative to the National Advisory Council on Aging (NACA).

Dr. McNally is a leader in the field of seniors' oral health research in Nova Scotia. Among her initiatives is the Oral Health of Seniors: A Nova Scotia Project , which is a collaborative, community-based research project aimed at examining the policies and continuing of care in the delivery of oral health services for seniors living in Nova Scotia.

Mrs. Cooley is 77 years old and currently resides in Halifax, In addition to her work with the NACA, she has represented seniors in provincial and regional health workshops, has contributed to the validation of oral health research instruments and has worked diligently to raise awareness about seniors' oral health with her NACA counterparts in Ottawa.

"This cover photograph represents the partnerships that can and should be forged between the dental profession and the people in the community who receive oral care," says Dr. McNally.
