Dr. Wayne Maillet was recently appointed President of the Canadian Academy of Endodontics. The goal of the CAE is to advance the art and science of endodontics by providing learning experiences through lectures, providing teachers of endoddontics a forum for interaction, providing information and acting as a resource to dental governing bodies, and improving the health of the public.
Dr. Maillet obtained his B.Sc. degree at Mount Allison University and D.D.S. degree at Dalhousie University. He practiced as a general dentist in the Canadian Forces Dental Service and in private practice in Fall River, Nova Scotia. He then returned to school and obtained his Certificate of Endodontics at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1996. Wayne is proud to be the first graduate of the University of Toronto Grad Endo Program to become President of the CAE.
He maintains a private practice limited to endodontics in Halifax and Truro. He is on part-time faculty at the Dalhousie University Faculty of Dentistry where he has been a clinical instructor and lecturer in the divisions of restorative dentistry, general dentistry and endodontics at various times for the past 20 years. He is also a past full-time Head of the Division of Endodontics.
Wayne is a past president of the Nova Scotia Dental Association and the Nova Scotia Dental Specialists Society. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Dentistry Canada Fund. He is a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International College of Dentists, and the Academy of Dentistry International.
Wayne has given presentations at the Canadian Academy of Endodontics Annual General Meeting, the American Association of Endodontists Annual Meeting and the IADR. He has also spoken to various dental societies, given numerous CE Courses and has a modest list of research publications to his credit.
