Distinguished Service Award Presented to Dr. Joseph Murphy
The Dalhousie Health Sciences Research Ethics Board presented the Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Joseph Murphy, in recognition of his service as a member of the Board from March 2003 to May 2006. Those who serve on Dalhousie’s ethics boards undertake a very demanding task and provide thoughtful guidance and direction to University researchers engaged in human subject research, in a wide variety of disciplines.
In particular, Dr. Murphy’s expertise in the field of dental research played an important role in identifying and resolving ethical and methodological issues encountered in the review of health research protocols from the Faculties of Dentistry, and more broadly from the Faculties of Medicine, Health Professions and Science. Dr. Murphy’s dedication in serving for a period exceeding three years is also greatly appreciated.
