    Updates

    1) Currently we are experiencing the last part of the tendering process for the new hand pieces with opportunities to test the products from A-dec and Brasseler for the next few weeks.  I encourage everyone to participate and be a part of the experience.

    2) Senate approved two motions from the Faculty of Dentistry on Grading Scale.

Motion 1:  That Senate approve that effective in the 2011/12 academic year, the letter grade-numerical score conversion scale for all undergraduate classes in the Faculty of Dentistry designate a numerical score of 65% as the minimum passing score.  This scale will be used for all undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Dentistry Programs, except those classes directed/taught by departments outside of the Faculty of Dentistry.

Motion 2:  That Senate approve that effective in the 2011/12 academic year, the following letter grade-numerical score conversion scale be implemented for all undergraduate classes in the Faculty of Dentistry.  In this scale 65% is the minimum passing numerical score.

    3) Recently I finished a Media Training Workshop and would encourage anyone interested in interacting with the Media to contact Charles Crosby from the Communications Office via Marilyn Klein to arrange for a similar workshop.  Well worth the effort.

    4) Senate approved the amended Academic Schedule Principles to include a notation to the section on the Fall Study Break, which shall read, “except students engaged in co-op, clinical or internships”.

    5) Our new intra-net DalDentX will go live in February.  The following modules (student timetable, event calendar and immunization) are part of the package.  It is hoped that the individual clinic schedules will be added in April.

Happy New Year to everyone and many successes in 2011 for you and our Faculty.
