Call Patient Services at (902) 494-2101 to make an appointment for an initial examination and x-rays called a Treatment Planning appointment.
Appointments are available throughout the year.
WE DO NOT KEEP A WAITING LIST.
It is important for you to keep your appointment. If you are not able to keep this appointment, you may have a wait for another appointment.
Please bring with you a list of any medications you are taking.
1. Our Decision
After the initial Treatment Planning examination, we will be able to make a decision as to whether or not we can provide you with suitable dental care. The dental care that you require may be too difficult for our students to manage.
NOT ALL APPLICANTS ARE ACCEPTED AS PATIENTS.
2. Your Decision
After you have been presented with a treatment plan and the treatment has been explained to you - you will have to decide whether you wish to become a patient in our Clinic. For a variety of reasons you may decide that our Clinic is not for you. For instance:
• Most appointments are long, usually three hours in length - can you afford the time off from work or school?
• You may be required to be available for an appointment once every two weeks. Does your schedule allow for this time?
• You may have thought that it was a free Clinic but now you realize there are fees involved with your Treatment Plan. Can you afford treatment at this time?
If you decide that our Clinic does not suit your needs, please inform us of this decision as soon as possible.
If you are accepted and agree to become a patient in our Clinic then several things will happen:
1. You will be asked to sign a consent form to allow the use of your xrays, photographs, impressions, videos, teeth that have been extracted, or tissue samples for teaching purposes. Additional consent may be requested for research/publication use.
2. You will be assigned to a student.
3. The student will contact you, usually within four weeks, for an appointment.
4. The treatment is carried out through a series of appointments made between you and your student.
5. When your treatment is complete, you will remain an active patient for 1 year. After this time you may call us for another Treatment Planning appointment and evaluation.
