Acceptance - US & International Applicants

All applications are contacted by e-mail or regular mail when an application is received; and information on the admission process is provided.

Competitive applicants are required to attend an admissions interview. Applicants are normally contacted about interviews in early to mid February, and interviews take place during the months of March to May.

All applicants are notified of the admissions decisions by June 15, and a limited number of early acceptances are normally granted in March.   Applicants may be granted final acceptance, conditional acceptance (on condition of receipt of final documentation, at the discretion of the Admissions Committee), or placed on a waiting list, or denied acceptance. Wait listed applicants could be accepted to the program up to the first week in September.

On notice of acceptance to the Faculty of Dentistry, International applicants must deposit the sum of $2500.00 (CDN) to the Registrar before a specified date. This amount is credited toward tuition fees if the student registers, but is not refundable if he/she withdraws.

Acceptance into all programs within the Faculty of Dentistry and the School of Dental Hygiene is normally conditional upon receipt of a completed Immunization/CPR Record.

Accepted applicants are provided with an orientation package and information on registration procedures during the summer.   Classes normally begin during the last week in August or the first week in September, and information on the class start date is provided in the acceptance letter. Students are encouraged to arrange for suitable living accommodations in Halifax at an early date, as accommodations close to the university are limited and residence facilities are not generally suitable for professional students.
