Frequently Asked Questions - D.D.S. Qualifying Program Applicants

  1. If I applied last year and was not accepted, do I need to re-submit an application?
Yes, you need to submit a new application form and application fee each year. Your application documents will be held for one year, and added to a subsequent application form, so there is no need to submit any documents that were sent in the previous year's application.
  2. How should I prepare for the interview and other testing?
Interviews and essay writing assessments are designed to evaluate the applicant's ability in the English language - both spoken and written. The pre-clinical evaluation is designed to evaluate an applicant's dentistry skills, and asks candidates to perform a cavity preparation and/or a crown preparation. If you have not performed clinical dentistry in some time, try to practice with a handpiece before attending the session.
  3. Can I apply to the program if I am not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident?
You may apply for admission, and your application will be reviewed. However, you cannot be granted admission to the program unless you have your Canadian citizenship or permanent residency completed. Acceptances are normally granted in mid-December.
