The graduate training program in oral and maxillofacial surgery is of six years duration. It is a joint programme leading to an M.D./M.Sc. in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. The programme utilizes the facilities of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, IWK - Grace Health Care Centre and Dalhousie University.
Extensive training is provided in surgical correction of dentofacial deformities, cleft lip and palate, maxillofacial trauma, and other surgery as it pertains to the specialty is provided. An important part of the program is devoted to research, including an original research project leaading to a Master's thesis and defence.
The program, while formally based in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, is subsantially based in the Faculties of Dentistry and Medicine.
