The Faculty of Dentistry has a rich and diverse research environment that is home to both strong individual research programs as well as active collaborative research teams that cross over many disciplines / specialties both within and outside the Faculty. From the core basic research programs working in such areas as tissue regeneration and oral pathogens, to clinical research programs examining new treatment modalities, the focus remains on improving the oral health - and by extension the general health - of individuals. This health care focus extends to community / population health research, including our extensive studies involving seniors, that brings a holistic or quality-of-life perspective to oral health treatment while informing best practice and health care policy development. As well, there exists a synergy between teaching within the Faculty and ongoing research in education and curriculum / professional development that keeps the Faculty of Dentistry at the leading edge of curriculum and professional innovation. This commitment to DDS / DH program renewal and enhancement - together with exciting opportunities to engage in research - provides an unparalleled educational and professional experience for our dentistry and dental hygiene students.
